FEDERICO MACHEDA REMINISCENT OF MANCHESTER UNITED CAREER IN INTERVIEW

Federico Macheda has spoken about his time at Manchester United, touching on various topics over the course of his career in England, including Sir Alex Ferguson and Cristiano Ronaldo. In an interview with former United Skipper Rio Ferdinand on his Vibe with Five show, the Italian spoke candidly about the ups and downs of his footballing life. After joining The Red Devils from his home town club of Lazio in Rome aged just 16, Macheda recalled how it felt to be scouted by United.

Describing the approach as “feeling weird”, and that he “didn’t believe it”, Macheda tells how he was promised a better life in Manchester for himself and his parents, and so the whole family made the move in 2008. Macheda made an immediate impact for United and despite being just 16 years of age, he was thrown into the U18’s from the start, scoring on his debut and finishing the season as top goalscorer. MACHEDA REFLECTS ON FERGUSON CONVERSATION

Italian striker Federico Macheda has reflected on the life-changing conservation he had with legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson before he became a teenage sensation at Old Trafford over a decade ago.

Federico Macheda reflected on the conversation with Ferguson just before he made his mark during the Aston Villa game in a chat with the Manchester United podcast. According to him, Ferguson came to meet him while he was on a bike in the gym one morning and also watching news on the TV. Sir Alex Ferguson seldom visited the gym and it was understandably a surprise to see him there. Speaking further, Federico Macheda said he was in the company of his Italian friend DavidePetrucci at the gym and that Ferguson approached him to inform him that he has a good chance of being on the  bench for the Premier League game against Villa during the upcoming weekend if he does well for the reserves later that night. Macheda could not reply as he was shocked in the presence of Ferguson.

HOW MAN UNITED SIGNED MACHEDA

Manchester United pounced on the chance to sign Federico Macheda in 2007 thanks in part to the rule concerning the signing of youth team players.Italian striker Federico Macheda was born in Rome, Lazio and he began his career as a young footballer in the youth team at Lazio having been spotted at the local Atletico Prenestino club in the Italian capital of Rome.

Italian football regulations prevented footballers under the age of 18 from putting pen to paper on professional contracts and this prompted Manchester United to swoop in for Federico Macheda. The attacker was not permanently tied to Lazio as a result of the rule above thereby making it easier for the Red Devils to sign him. Manchester United signed Federico Macheda shortly after his 16th birthday since the regulations in England allowed the signing of players over the age of 16 to professional contracts unlike what’s obtainable with the rules in Italy.

Macheda’s Journey from a Footballer to a Mere Celebrity

Forward for Superleague Greece club Panathinaikos, Federico Macheda became a part of the football world with a whirl. He moved to England, due to financial problems faced in Italy, on an invite by Alex Ferguson for Manchester United and then he became a part of the reserve team at 16 and got his very first chance as a substitute in the match against Aston Villa in the year 2009.

He played at the premier league and scored a winning goal for the team. In the very next match, he was picked when Ferguson had Giggs and Nani as an option to win the match. Though the goal wasn’t the same as the first one but the player nailed it on the ground. He played a full 90 minutes against Everton in FA Cup semi-final. He was the promising new player, but as soon as he was free of the loan he took from the English club, he joined Sampdoria as the player wished to move back to Italy.

United faces difficult season

Former Manchester United forward Federico Macheda believes that the Red Devils will face a difficult season. He said that last season they were far behind Manchester City and that they have failed to address some issues. He said that he was hoping that the team will make some massive signings to improve the team but unfortunately for them, nothing has been done,

Macheda On Mourinho

Former Manchester United player Federico Macheda believes that his former team should stick with Jose Mourinho as manager despite the average season that they had this season. He said that the team has improved a lot since the Portuguese manager has taken over from Louis Van Gaal and it is important that he is given time to build the team.

He said that there are players that he has signed that still needs time to settle and that he is sure that once they find their best form Manchester United will become stronger. He said that players such as Alexis Sanchez and Pogba were performing well at their previous clubs and it will take some time for them to get back to their best level.
